Baroque Festival

In the year when Sibiu and the Brukenthal National Museum celebrate the title of Destination of the Year 2026, you are invited to take part in a special moment dedicated to the museum's founder, Baron Samuel von Brukenthal, on the occasion of his birthday anniversary.

Between July 25–26, 2026, the Brukenthal Palace becomes the stage of an extensive pilot cultural program — the Baroque Festival, a celebration of the European spirit, art, and refinement of the 18th century.

Here's what awaits you in the program:

• Three temporary exhibitions, one of which is dedicated to the life and personality of Baron Samuel von Brukenthal — a man of the Enlightenment, a collector, and the founder of the first public museum in this part of Europe.
• Two concerts organized in partnership with prestigious cultural institutions, bringing to the forefront the dialogue between heritage and music.
• Educational activities for all ages, including a participatory project where you can contribute to a collective painting in Baroque style, rediscovering the techniques and symbols of the era.
• Themed and imaginative guided tours, designed to bring back to life the atmosphere of the Baron's residence and the fascinating stories of his collections.
