Pushed by the desire to overcome the days of petrol lamps and rudimentary machines, the people of Sibiu made great efforts to build a hydropower plant at Sadu.
On 18 December 1896 Sibiu was stepping into a new era of technology - the new power plant from Sadu was commissioned.
One hundred years later, again at Sadu, they inaugurated the first hydropower museum in the country and one of the very few in Europe. In its three halls, the museum exhibition tells the history of the plant and it displays the items and technologies used in its 100 years of operation.
