Sălişte is a quiet little town at the foothills of the mountains, far from the noisy roads, a small community which still keeps some of the charm of local mountain villages.
The fact that Sălişte is a perfect place to relax in nature also became known to Nicu Ceauşescu, the son of former Romanian communist dictator. Often when he used to be the party’s First-Secretary at Sibiu Nicu used to withdraw with some close friends to its mansion on the hill of the Marmeladă district.
Nicu’s former mansion was recently renovated and turned into an agritourism complex with various tourist facilities: accommodation, sports field with evening lightning, camping site, orchard with various fruit trees (which also gives the name of the district - Marmelade), a fishing pond and an open-air pool available to all those looking for some fun.
