Its hilly relief with a cultural landscape dominated by Saxon villages to the north and by the Făgăraş and Cindrel mountains to the south makes the county of Sibiu a perfect destination for those who love outdoor activities.
Regardless of your favourite sport, in Sibiu entertainment is “at home” and there are a lot of arguments for this: hiking tracks in the Cindrel and Făgăraş mountains, ski and snowboard trails at Păltiniş and Gura Râului, possibilities to practice extreme sports (paragliding, powered hang gliding, parachuting), rafting on the Olt river, Enduro and ATV routes (did you know that one of the world’s toughest Enduro competitions, RedBull Romaniacs is held each summer at Sibiu?).
No matter the weather you may relax at the county’s covered pools or take a sun and salt bath at Ocna Sibiului. We have not forgotten hunters and fishermen; we have a rich hunting and fishing stock, but you must carefully consult the regulations and the prohibition season.
In winter you may add to your list of activities a visit to or a night spent in the coldest bed ever, at the Bâlea Lake Ice Hotel. Here you may also visit the Ice Church. Operators prepare events and sports competitions and you get the chance to skate on a glacial lake at over 2000 m of altitude!
Take a break from the everyday spleen and enjoy your favourite hobby in Sibiu!
