The theatre has a portfolio of 72 different plays ranging from Greek tragedies to the most innovating experiments of the 21st century. Many famous Romanian and European directors - Silviu Purcărete, Andrei Şerban, Andriy Zholdak, Rodrigo Garcia, Tompa Gabor, Alexandru Dabija, Charles Muller, Yuriy Kordonskiy, Radu Alexandru Nica, Eugenio Barba - have put together true masterpieces on Sibiu’s stages. Who hasn’t heard of the famous Faust by Goethe directed by Silviu Purcărete? - An electrifying show created by the director’s view and by the complexity of characters with over 200 actors, whose sets and effects seem to overwhelm, surround and conquer the spectator!
The plays of the Radu Stanca Theatre are not only played on Sibiu’s stages, but they go on tours in countries worldwide. The renowned institution has a Romanian and a German department and it stages shows in both languages.
